The USDA recently released the following information collected during its National Animal Health Monitoring System survey of U.S. dairies in 2007. The survey is completed every 5 years. More than 2,194 dairy operations in 17 of the nation’s major dairy states participated in the most recent survey. The information represents 79.5 percent of U.S. dairy operations and 82.5 percent of U.S. dairy cows.
