Story & Photos by Layne Whitby

The Ohio State University Farm Science Review took place September 16-18 at the Molly Caren Agricultural Center, two miles north of London, Ohio. Attendance was strong despite damage to the local area produced by what was left of Hurricane Ike, which arrived just two days prior to the show. Winds reaching 78 mph swept through the region on Sunday, September 14, knocking out electrical service to more than 2.6 million American Electric Power customers in Ohio. Power was still out in most of the area during the show. However, power at the show was not affected by the storm.

Attendees were able to view the latest technologies and products in many aspects of farming; there was everything from large farm equipment to a small robotic lawn mower. The dairy industry was well-represented with many dairy-specific booths focusing on cow comfort, nutrition and manure management. Next year’s show will be held September 22-24, 2009.
