During Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin’s Annual Business Conference, Stewart-Peterson asked producers to write their reasons for confidence in the dairy business in 2009. For each entry, the commodity advisory firm company based in West Bend, Wisconsin, donated $10 to the PDPW Education Foundation. The following are dairy producer responses:
“With challenges come opportunity! In ’09 we will cut the fat and be a lean, mean machine. Just like in the spring, we plant a crop not knowing what weather risks lay ahead, we will go forth in ’09 with the same optimism for our dairy!”
“We feel we have the resources to weather the storm and will be ready to profit when the situation betters.”
“While the world economy can recess, our obsession for QUALITY dairy products will not.”
“We are here at this time, in this place to feed God’s people. That is the task before us. He has given us the resources to do just that. We may not be rewarded financially in the lean years, but our work is not in vain. He certainly will not let us starve. In God we trust.”
“Our dairy is in this business for the long run and will continue to use risk management. This will enable us to reach our goals.”
“We have a good network of professionals which work with the dairy.”
“There will always be a market for food and energy. Our industry can provide both.”

“...Of late, we have been able to keep and attract some more young people who are very interested in the dairy industry and will keep the industry strong as they are a very forward-looking and progressive group.” Steve and Lisa Carpenter Red Rock Farms, Darlington, WI
